just aquired a 3 year old mare out of sunny boy and the dam sire by aldatus z anyone any idea what the realistic expectations should be was hoping to get her jumping in time ?
I'm not going to be any help at all; depends I suppose on when you want to be out competing, how far you want to go, how much work you're willing to put in and how experienced you are
i have no time restrictions and hard work is no problem spent about 15 years jumping all over england but have been away a while. the mare has good movement and bone and the breeding seems alright but who knows. she is brown in colour and 16.1hh at the moment but due to be collected on fri so wont have any pics till then..sorry
Weeeell, my boss, who does this for a living, usually has them ready to compete around 9mths after backing and they're schooled every day. By 'competing' I mean 2'6"-2'9" classes. Can't really be sure with horses, can you?
. If you like her and she seems to be what you want, and the breeding is there, then you possibly have more chance of competing at a high level of BSJA/BE than if you had bought a Clysedale
.
I bought a four year old with all the breeding, the build, the scope, etc. to BSJA in two years time (I don't like to push them when young, 'there's all the time in the world'). She has a bobered pelvis, so it's unlikely that we'll ever get there.
