Experience of Grass Mats?

Thinking ahead to the winter...

Has anyone used the grass mats to help minimise the depth of mud in the gateways?
I'm thinking of this sort of thing...

Do they work? Are they worth the investment?

Yes they work - especially if you have little horrors that choose to stand at the gate pawing because they think you are not fixing tea fast enough

However ideally you need to get them down now, well ahead of time

Also you need a big area to make them work so they aren't a cheap option
