My experience with my horse wasn't very positive and I am wondering whether it was just my management wasn't very good or whether this drug is vaguely irrelevant and the important thing is the whole laminitus management.

Has anyone else had a better/different experience and what is the general feeling?

(PS Metformin is a drug that is used in human diabetics and is the new 'wonder' drug for IR horses!).

Metformin "should" help IR horses based on physiological principles, but it has not yet been definitively proved to work (studies are ongoing). However, it is certain that if it is not accompanied by good management techniques then it will be ineffective.
