The supplement industry is a minefield. Does anyone have experience of using alternitives to bute? i am looking at cavalor freebute or american equine buteless- does anyone have any experience of either of these products?
I want to relieve any discomfort she might have after exercise. She is already on Feedmark bestflex HA.

I was just about to say the same - I’ve used devils claw on a couple of horses in the past and noticed a difference.

I used the Devils Claw but when I couldn't get hold of it I bought Buteless,as a stopgap, and it seems much more effective, so I stuck with it

I used to use devil's claw with a good response. I am considering trying it on my oldest donkey just to help with general old age stiffness that can't be pinned down to anything obvious or major going on, other than old age of course.

Not horses, but Riaflex boswellia has worked wonders for my Jack Russell with arthritis. Riaflex also does devil's claw and joint supplements. I couldn't get devil's claw down her at all, she flatly refused it no matter what tricks I tried.

I notice most improvement with my mare using Boswelia.

I've got my gelding (arthritis in one hock) on boswellia and I'm pretty sure it helps. If I stop it for more than a few days I *think* I notice a difference (although of course I am an unavoidably biased observer!). He gets a decent scoop of it every day.

According to Kate the owner at Riaflex, you need to keep them on boswellia with no let ups on it. She is very helpful if you need any advice.

Our dog went from crippled and on 3 legs to running about in less than a week once she was on the R boswellia. Arthritis had been diagnosed at our Vet's in both hocks, one worse than the other. She hasn't had any prescribed meds. No problems since, this was over 3 yrs ago.
