Experiences of Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)?

Hi,

My vet has recommended a course of shock wave therapy for Bob as he was kicked while out in the field and has some very small bone chips and slight damage to his collateral ligament of the elbow in his off-fore. She has said it's not bad enough to require surgery but thinks the shock wave therapy would be benficial.

I wondered what people's experinces of shock wave therapy have been....?

I've had 3 sessions on my boy for his suspensory injury. Similar, injury not bad enough to warrant surgery or medication so advised rest and SWT. Vet was quite pessimistic about whether it actually does any good or not. However, he's insured so no reason not to try.... Six months on and he's now sound and back in full work, just started jumping. But obviously I have no idea whether the shock wave actually helped or not. Sorry, that's not really very helpful!
