I have just bought myself a lovely little ex racer by Beat Hollow and her dam was by Generous. She seems like a lovely sort and was just wondering whether anyone has had any experiences with this breeding line? What their temperament/trainability is usually like etc?

Would love to hear all experiences (good or bad).

Many thanks

On the purely racing side of things, neither are known to throw particularly quirky sorts. Most Beat Hollow horses i've personally come across tend to be pretty tough horses with a bit of a work ethic.

Game of opinions!

The one Beat Hollow we had inthe yard was one of the quirkiest characters you could meet! And he continues to be so! Look up Battlegroup on Racing Post and see his last run ;)

He is an awesome wee horse with a lot of talent. He would spend most of his time either bombing off with you up the gallops or planting at either end. To hack out he would either march along with his wee ears pricked or he would drag his toes out the back sulking. You never got the same horse two days in a row to ride. To handle he was great, would occassionaly try to nip but in a playful way. He does genuinely love life but he does things his way.

We know it doesnt come from the mares line as we have his half brother who is the polar opposite to him.

Keep in their good books and they are great.

Thanks for the replies. She is a lovely mare to handle, and from what the breeder said she has never shown a nasty character but she is forward. I plan to take things slowly with her anyway - just want her to become a nice all rounder type.

Anymore experiences welcome!
