I went for a super explore up to Corhampton Gallops on an uber long hack today. Discovered lots of new routes for future hacks and pony was much more awake going for an 'explore'. I did remember where I'd turned so I didn't get lost so it was great fun! Was out for 3 hours in the end and hacked miles - Paddy wasn't even tired!!!

Anyone else enjoy exploring new routes? I think its almost magical finding woods you've never been through or discovering a pretty bridleway. Ahhh I love hacking!

Oh yes! We moved to a different part of the country with totally different countryside (mountains, woods etc) from where we were and have spent hours hacking around the woods and tracks. You're right about the horses enjoying the exploring - they seem to find it very exciting and the other day we were in the forest and saw two deer cross the path about 5m in front of us, it was fantastic

My mother and I, on my two girls, have been known to head off exploring, with a map, for several hours at once

Yes definetly was at a show recently with the YO and after we had done our dressage test we decided to go and explore the area on a nice hack! was very nice area and the horses enjoyed a nice cool down.

I moved yards recently and have been having great fun going out with my horse and a map, finding lots of new places to go. We have taken the odd wrong turning and ended up with a slightly longer hack than expected, but its been great fun. The hacking is so much better than we had at my last yard.
