hi all,
so over the last year i have been bringing on an ex-racehorse, what i would like to know is if anyone found that when they were re-educating their ex-racehorse that their canter was something else... i did expect it but it really took some time to get use to and to adapt myself and try to adapt him so we could find a happy medium, annoyingly we had found our canter and we were happy and balanced but 2 months off canter work due no school and only hacking available to us i found that we are back to square one and we will be relearning how to canter...
sorry odd post i just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this?

We don't have a canter at the minute, no balance and its full pelt around the arena. No chance of slowing down at all, it's bizarre really. I need to get her fully balanced in walk and trot before we start cantering.

Dito ellie11987!

Out on hacks he is fine but in the school he does a wall of death and can take a while to stop! This is purely a balance issue so until walk and trot are stronger i wont canter him in the school.

Same... canter is awful at the mo! find myself wanting to stand up as it is not very nice to sit to! :s some days are better then others though and im sure he will get there in the end
