does anyone know any websites that do extra large bridles? i bought a full size hunter bridle and although it does fit my cob, the noseband is on the last hole and not as loose as id like it to be, also the browband looks a bit stretched, it isnt pinching and pony seems comfortable but im wondering if would be better off in an extra large - he does have a rather large head! the cheek pieces are on about the 4th hole from the bottom, so not sure if extra large would be too big for that bit?

Ask your local saddler to alter the parts that don't fit. The buckles on the cheek pieces, throat and on the noseband cheek piece should all line up with the horse's eye and we try to make them like this so the buckles are on the middle hole which not only gives you the balanced look but allows for lots of adjustment up or down if needs be, Oz :)

I think extra full would probably be too big for a normal height cob. I have an extra full on my 17.1hh clydie x and he is on top holes on the cheek pieces although noseband etc fit well.

Your best off finding a bridle maker that offers you the option of choosing various parts and then choosing right size parts for your horse. Jeffries does this, as does flexible fit equine.

I have a 19hh WBxShire

My bridle is mainly Stubben (Extra full) with Jeffries Brow band & nose band (Extra full)

He also wears a 62" girth and my reins at 60" are not quite long enough...

Oh and he takes a 7'6" rug

Wow that's a biggun! I was looking at a hench 16.2 the other day thinking 'I bet finding bridle bits is going to be a chore' but maybe I needn't worry!

I don't know if I've ever even SEEN a 19hh!

I second the Stubben xfull bridle, it fits my lads big noggin perfectly. He also has a Saber full hunter bridle for his in hand showing but the nose band is "OS" oversize!! But the great thing about the Saber is it came as seperates so I could mix and match to suit.
The Stubben came as one bridle which I had to order from Stubben out of their catalogue.

For rugs I usually just search 7'6" online. However I can squeeze him into 7'3" when necessary :D:D

For those that asked - this is what a 19hh horse looks like:

And both my boys. Hercules on the right is my TB and he is 17.1hh

Ooh, he is lovely. He looks almost identical to my boy, except mine has a small white star.

Thank you! He is a total poppet and has just turned 20.

I have him on loan from the family who have had him from the day he was born. He is an ex 2* eventer, total bomb proof hack and still got the moves and manners to burn. His paces are to die for and I feel very privilaged to have him :)

Have you any pictures of your big hoss?

I always have to open the gate to the ménage before I ride down there as I nearly came off trying to lean over to undo the latch :p Thankfully there is usually someone on hand to open the gates to the bridle paths or else we'd both be trapped on the yard :D. Only other problem is finding a truck big enough as I'm keen to go to some comps next year. Only other option is to train him to kneel like a camel then I might have a slim chance of getting him in a horse box

Well you may be surprised to know that Fozy travels in my HB511 trailer!

In fact his owners drove him all the way down from Cumbria to East Sussex in a HB511! That is how chilled he is (unless he's competing that is :D)
