I think I've found a horsebox!!

Its a very nice IW 505 and its 2003. I've negotiated the price down to something I'm very happy with. I went to look at it yesterday at the man's farm. Had him hook up the lights to check they were working. I checked under the mats and looked at the alloy floor. Made sure all the door bits hook into their holes properly. Checked the tyre treads. Used the jockey wheeel. All looks great.
The box has just been serviced, so I'll call service place with serial number to check what sort of report the box got. Also will check out the chassis number.
Also will make sure I have insurance and hitch lock organised before I take posession.
What else should I do? Anything I've missed?? I want to make sure I cover all my bases as much as possible. Thanks!

Hitch lock? Is it a trailer or horsebox?

If it's a horsebox I would strongly recommend you get your own mechanic to look at it and not rely on anyone else's report.

If it's a trailer, I'm sorry I don't know much about them, other than to check the floor and brakes.

The one thing I am not happy with is your checking of the tyres. Tyre tread depth on a trailer is almost irrelevant. Generally they perish long before they wear out. The condition of the tyre side walls is more important. Take the trailer to a good tyre fitters and get them to check them over(and check they are the correct ply rating)

Make sure you get the right sort of insurance!

I had insurance to tow a trailer, but it was third party only (little known to me!). Am in the process of changing car insurance over to NFU - then if anything happens to the trailer whilst it is being towed, NFU will leap into action
