Well, what a couple of weeks it's been! My horse is a suspicious sole at the best of times but over the last month he became unbelievably spooky, leaping about all over the place for no reason. Out hacking a couple of weeks ago he went to flick at the flies and caught his tail on a twig - honestly it was like a tiger had jumped out at him. To cut a long story short I ended up sitting in the dust watching his butt career off down the track. Initial thought was up the workload, cut the grub but he just seemed to get worse and worse. Anyway Thursday night decided to lung him - usually brilliant on lunge - couldn't do a thing with him - spooking. What was really odd though was that every time he stopped he was starring at the arena surface about 20 yards in front, snorting and ears pricked - just looked so bizarre decided to get vet to check his eyes. Vet came yesterday and low and behold he's got a flaming great cyst floating around in his eye. No wonder he was behaving like he was seeing things - he really was. Gutted as vet initially thought nothing could be done but then rang me back last night to say there is now a laser surgery treatment that can be done in some cases. Question is has anyone else had this laser treatment and did it go ok? Recovery time etc. just any info at all really. Thanks.
