I saw my vet today - socially for once! - and asked her why Piper's eyelashes point down instead of out. She said it can be a sign of a neurological disorder but if he seemed normal otherwise not to worry.
Not much chance of that now! Do any of you know anything about it? I couldn't find anything on google.

Don't panic!!

I believe it's called Ptosis, basically a droopy eyelid and chances are its absolutely nothing to worry about!

If it was associated with anything else you would have other symptoms I am sure.

Have you taken any photos?

Well bizarrely we have had a tiny bit of rain and have a tiny bit of grass (I can't see it but the mares poos are loose) and his eyelashes tonight have definately come up a bit! So perhaps what you heard was right, Simsar.
His poo has been very dry and dark but I thought that must be normal but today his is looser too. Nowt so queer as foals!

He drinks from the water trough quite a bit, and has a salt lick and a mineral lick.I will keep a closer eye if it goes hotter again. I pinch his skin and it always leaps straight back, are there any other signs of dehydration?

I don't want to give you a false idea if it could be something else because you are doing the right things for dehydration, especially with the foal coat they get so hot. Just keep an eye, no pun intended. x

Just to say just because they drink milk doesn't mean they are hydrated. I will have a look into it a bit more. x
