Hi - my 4yo warmblood developed a raised white spot on her eyeball 10 days ago, just behind the iris. It didn't seem to bother her but I called the vet after a day who confirmed it was not an injury or ulcer. Mystified vet sent pictures to specialists one of whom diagnosed Onchocerciasis (also known as eyeworm disease) which is prevalent in North America but not in the UK or Europe. The white spot developed tiny lumps all around it which then started to irritate her and worry me sick. Treated with ivermectin and steriod eye drops, the condition is rapidly improving - but has anyone else seen this in the UK before? Picture on http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/30401.htm shows exactly what the white spot looks like.

Never heard of it but thank you for posting as if it is going to start coming in over here its helpful to know what to look for. Hope she gets better soon and best wishes for you both. x
