footpaths in the inner zone to be closed
pirbright lab IS the source but not airborne and not waterborne but carried 'deliberately or accidentally' but staff from the lab

at least 3 staff have 'been identified'

this is from the itv evening news

official report due imminently

the 3rd 'outbreak' is almost certainly additional land owned and used by the farmer of the 2nd oubreak lastnight/today - and his cattle are already dead so it is being closed merely to stop access and contamination

please lets all hope this is getting to the end of it as this 2nd farm is still in Normandy where the first farm was

8 days is up this friday - we need no more outbreaks - and that is the incubation period

Well, has been full of police at the end of my lane, they have had to ask Sussex police to come in to help man the area, two van's of police pulled into our yard then down to Woodstreet Common....where I ride is now a no go area..gravel track taped up and 3 police guarding it,as backs onto this farmers property ,told by YO men in white boiler suits with a bowser(filled with disinfectant) on common there is talk of culling deer on the common(No red herring that one!)how true I do not know.....just all sad as John Gunner is a local farmer.....nobody has ridden out from my yard or the others...and Merrist Wood having problems too,but not with livestock at present!

Too little too late, when I left the yard tonight the footpaths were still open and we are in the 3km PV. F-ing marvelous, cull the deer and let every numbty in the area trapes all over the farmland whilst are horses are confined to the yard

The warmwell.com site states that the H&SE have served 5 notices on Pirbright and compton for biosecurity breaches in the last 4 years !!!

easy way to stop the ramblers - get some razor wire

and believe me - if I was in the situation of some of these farmers I'd put the wire up and to hell with the consequences

when we live in a country where kids are given names like pinkydoll and chavviebelle how can you expect that the adults will have any brains whatsoever

Ha. So all those who had a good laugh (and you know who you are) when i suggested it was deliberate/careless/inside job, eat your words!!

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you'll find it was the theory that it was deliberate and a government conspiracy that was, and still is, rather laughable

No one doubted that it was likely to be due to carelessness from the lab...

I never actually suggested it was Gov't conspiracy, I was suggesting it could be the work of some terrorist/nutter/extremist and I find this post pretty condescending TBH.

Put it this way, OH and work partner are both ex squaddies who did their fair stint in N Ireland/Iraq and they didn't think it that far fetched a notion to have released the virus deliberately. For instance the IRA were well known for having 'sleepers' working in respectable professions until their time came

Traceable or not, it has already had a huge impact on the economy and import/export of this country so they've achieved the objective.

Finally the footpath have been closed this evening, about flipping time too.

Thank heavens for that.............now it'll be another ten days outside in case any of the walkers have picked it up. I heard on the news, but have no idea how true it is, that the first farmer believed that the sewage/effluent from there flooded his fields, in which case the likelihood is that it was on the paths too.........

Think they have pretty much decided it was taken out by people........either accidentally or otherwise. The flooding theory always sounded iffy to me, as I'm 90% sure the farm is upstream of the Lab.

I think the first farmer is downstream, it is the second farmer who isn't.
However it got out is terrifying tho'. I saw the second farmer choking back tears as he described having to have his bull, Ned, destroyed. To him it was as if we'd had our horses put down.
I really hope heads roll over this.........whether careless or intentional.
In France they are already taking measures, and checking any cattle that have come into the Limousin region in the last ten days, and all ordinary animals going to slaughter are being taken in government trucks to ensure there is no lapse in the biosecurity.
