we went to our local forest park today to go for a ride. it had finally dried up, so off we went. at the park we always try to find things we can jump! its a lot harder to turn sharply when your on a 16.2!!
so off we went, and found a nice ditch to start over in the woods. he didnt quite know what his mummy wanted him to do, but he sorted himself out and ballooned it! popped it a few more times, and he was very pleased with himself
then we jumped a fallen log on the path, and then jumped some more ditches, a lot more ditches with water in them! he even gave the older more experienced ponies a lead
and hes only 6!
then jumped a bank with a ditch in front of it, he didnt query it and just popped it like he had done it thousands of times before
(which he hasn't )
then he started getting even bolder and bolder, and we decided to tackle the big scary hunt fences, which were huge (1.10 - we measured afterwards) and he just popped them, no trouble to him at all - this horse has never even hunted and been xc twice
then one of the other ponies jumped funny and sort of wrecked the fence more and make it bigger as the branch was now upright and even bigger! this is cue for him to go ok mummy! and he left about a 2foot gap over the fence - he jumped massive - and i have jumped 1.20!! and this was wayyyy bigger
he grew in so much confidence! then we went for a little walk in the river, and my friend decided that we should all jump up a rather large bank out of the water, so she went first, pony forgot a hind leg and sort of lay down! psml! she got off in a very slow mo fall to the left, pony got up and jumped the vertical bank on!! so my boy and i were quite nervous, but he popped it and then up the next big bank to catch her pony!
on way home found a incredibly wide fence, which my friend stopped twice at, but my boy asked no questions and didnt hesitate, and just jumped it! then had to go under a rather thick branch, que me nearly being pulled off, but staying on thankfully. jumped lots more big ditches, no hesitations what so ever
so fab day!! sorry was self satisfied post - had to share feeling!!
