A few weeks back I bought a second DeMeulenkamp sweet itch rug for Jim from Solva Icelandics. As my first one was a little bit big I bought the size smaller which fitted but was maybe a little snug. Anyway I cut off the hood fastenings as I didn't need them & he wore it for a fortnight with no problems. I then washed it &, horror of horrors, it shrank
. My other one is in it's third year & still going strong & it's never shrunk despite loads of washing so I certainly wasn't expecting that! It was now much too tight & the neck was nearly strangling him - since he's been good lately I didn't feel he deserved that so the rug had to go.
I phoned Solva but to be honest I thought they'd refuse to replace it since I'd chopped bits off. However they couldn't have been nicer about it & even offered to replace it with the bigger size. I sent it back by ParcelForce last Wednesday afternoon & yesterday my replacement arrived - pretty good considering it was a bank holiday weekend.
I hopefully won't be needing another one for a while but when I do I won't hesitate to use them again & if anyone is looking for a good SI rug I'd strongly recommend them
