fading freezemark

my new horsey is already freezemarked and the first letter seems to either hve not been done properly or is fading. its supposed to be a B but cud be mistaken for a D. the rest of it is fine and the old owner gave me the paperwork. shud i get the letter done again, or leave it?
 
A Freezemark cannot fade, so it would be likely that it was never done properly in the first place. It is entirely up to you if you should have it re-done, but it may not be possible to make it any better, and you will have to pay, I have no idea how much it would cost. I would advise you contact the Company that did it and see what they suggest. (usually 4 digits is farmkey, 3 digits is freezemark, with some exceptions)
 
thx, thats what i thought. its the right hand side of the B is missing, maybe they didnt press it down hard enough or something. i guess there cant me that many ponies out there with the same description as mine with a number the same bar one letter.

I had my Black Shetland pony redone as his first 2 letter had virtually dissapeared.
My mum thought I was mad as the last 2 digits were visible, but had thinned a bit.
He was done by his breeder at 18 months old following a spate of thefts in Durham, and I think this is why his numbers had faded - they'd also stretched once he was fully grown.
Needless to say, I now have a very clear set of letters that are smaller than the last 2 digits, and it's very visible, which it wasn't before, even in the summer.
I have to confess I got a bit paranoid as I live on the route to Appleby Fair, and there had been a few thefts a bit too close to home and I have no regrets.

Thankyou. She will be Freezemarked at the earliest opportunity. Had two (HW cob and large donkey)stolen and recovered very quickly, thanks to their freezemarks.
 
It ought to be free to have the freezemark re done.
Dolls had to have hers redone under sedation & 2 of them still aren't clear enough....roll on number 3.
