Basically, a weeks back I found a pony after numerous months of searching that fits the bill of exactly what I want to do (compete BSJA) and I was over the moon! The owners kindly offered me to have her on a months trail as they were overstocked as it is and within this time period she would get vetted. Yesterday she was vetted by a local reputable vets. I wasn't there as I was in school but my Yard manager who has assisted me in this search and who is a really good friend was. The day before she was measured by JMB for her LHC which required her shoes being pulled as she usually wears shoes 😂. So it comes to the vetting and I'm an absolute mess because if she didn't pass it was back to square one all over again. We paid for 5* and she was lunged on the concrete only to go lame, great :( . My Dad called the vet just so he could tell us his verdict and whether we should still purchase etc. And also mentioned the fact that she's never been barefoot as long as she's been ridden, to which the vet replied "get her shoes back on and I'll come vet her again". I was seriously debating whether to get her shoes back on for the vetting as she was supposed to have her vetting last week but threw a shoe so wasn't able to and their was no way my farrier would be able to come after she got measured with a few hours notice. Do you think that could be the problem? Could it be the fact she was barefoot having never been properly barefoot before? She got shod today and I trotted her up and all was fine just a little foot sore from having new shoes.

I think you were rather silly to get her measured before vetting and purchase, taking her shoes off will have been enough to make her sore, give her a few days and as long as you are sure she is sound, easy enough to lunge her yourself to check, then try again, it would be a mistake to miss out if she is the right pony for you.
If I were the owner I would be very unhappy to get her sent back as a "fail" they will have to readvertise and try and explain what went wrong which may make it difficult for them, to be fair to them you really need to go through a vetting giving her the best possible chance of passing, if she still fails then send her back.

Re vet her with shoes on, plus don't allow her to be lunged on concrete, she could slip over. And, be there for the vetting, stay in control.

Yeah it was really silly to vet her unshod, I really didn't think it would effect her but I know for the future now. The owner has offered to pay for another vetting as they've still charged us even though they didn't complete it. We're giving her a few days off and then riding her as normal for 1-2 weeks and then vetting again. The only reason she was measured before vetting was because I will be Competeing her in BSJA juniors and she didn't currently have a LHC which is something BSJA are strict on as she had to be above 138cm and below 148cm so we didn't want to spend all that money on a pony that was too big or too small. Thank you for the comments, it's very helpful :)
