Livery yard issue!

Ive been on this yard for about a year with my horse who is on part livery, he went lame last year so i was looking for another. I was also looking at new yards as i wouldnt of been able to afford to keep both at this yard as she only offers part or full livery.

I have always got on well with yard owner and have done her quite a few favours in the past. YO was looking to sell her horse but hadnt got around to advertising or getting her fit, her horse was currently living out with her other horse who had retired.
I agreed to buy her horse as she was and keep both horses on the yard if, i could have a reduced grass livery price, other wise i would have to move both horses. YO agreed and i bought the horse, so i had one horse on part livery, the other on grass livery.

A month later I was away from home with work and asked YO if she would feed my horse for me whilst i was away (for a cost), this she agreed. On the first day of this week (which was also day i would pay my first livery bill in advance) i received a phone call at 21.45. It was my YO who had said that her other horse (who mine was out with) had a plait in her mane and this meant she has been marked for theft. She told me that she had moved her horse to another livery yard and my horse was now on the yard and because of this i would have to pay the part livery price.
I agreed to pay this for the first week as i was away but then asked if she could offer me a DIY price until she decided the horses could go back out. She refused saying that DIY was more hassle for her and i either had to pay the part livery price or my horse would have to back to the field alone (which wasnt an option). I asked when she thought the horses could go back out (so i had an idea of how long i would be paying for) but she couldnt tell me! There was no way i would have been able pay an extra £350 forever so i moved the horse when i came back from the week away, which i dont think she was too happy about!

Im not sure why i got the phone call at 21.45, as she would have fed my horse about 16.00 if not earlier and would have seen the plait then. Her other horse has a long mane and i belive it was a wind tangle which i had seen the previous week!

Anyone else been in this situation? I know she didnt HAVE to offer me DIY but i would have thought this would have been fair under the circumstances? I know the YO has had some money problems in the past and may have been trying to pull a fast one??

never been in that situation so can't really comment but to me it sounds as if the YO was pulling a fast one.Maybe she was hoping as she moved the horse off the yard that you would fund the keep of it on the other yard by having you as a part livery along with your other horse.I don't know what facilities or services your livery included but £350 a month is quite alot for part livery.I used to have assisted livery for £240 a month.

Hi spike, thats exactly what i thought! I feel a bit let down as i thought she was a friend!

Thats £85 a week for everything included apart from excercise and grooming. The yard only has an outdoor school, with a very bad surface! Horses are kept in when the weather is bad as she cannot rotate her fields!
