how much does everyone think would be a fair price to charge a livery on a small private yard?

stables with rubber mats , tackroom , storeage barn , fully fenced large concrete yard , running water & electic lights in all stables, tackroom(plus water heater) & barn , floodlighting in the yard , 20x30m floodlit fenced sand arena that is virtually never unrideable , all year daytime turnout in well maintained paddocks , access to decent hacking , i live adjacent

what do you think would be a fair price weekly for:

diy livery

diy with morning/evening turnout/in (no rug changes)

with the addition of bedding(1 bale shavings)& help yourself to haylage(i use big bale) (i could be flexible really on this , i buy in bulk & can just order in whatever is needed)

oh yes , i yorkshire

thanks

£25 per week pure diy;
(I pay that for yard with 3 schools (1 indoor and 1 full size), gallops/walker/barn/tack room/trailer-lorry park/individual turnout/lots of off road hacking etc.

£28-30 with turn out

I currently pay £8 a bale for shavings, but if you can get them in bulk and offer discount to livery that would be a plus point.

I would say if you are going to include a bale of shavings and unlimited haylage then it should be more, prehaps £30-£35. Plain DIY would probably be between £22-£27. It really depends on what other livery yards are available in your area. I would call a few up and see what they charge. With regards to doing rugs etc, one yard I was at charged just a £1 for each way. others as much as £2.50 for bring in/turn out with a rug change.
I hope that helps a bit!!

We charge our livery £30 per week, he gets turnout, stable unlimited hay and straw and we occasionaly chuck a haynet / bucket of food in for free if asked! Thats near Thirsk!
We are building new stables hopefully before xmas so we will have more room, so hopefully some extra liveries... I think then we will start charging for the extras. Probably £5 per day to feed, turnout and bring in (With rug changes but feed & haynets left ready!)

I would say £25 pw basic.
Add £1 per BI/TO minus rugs/feet or £2 to include rugs/feet
Charge per bale they use, if you bulk buy then add 50p on to cost to cover time/storage
Haylage charge per week, depends what it costs you to buy in but I would estimate £7-10 pw adlib

there are very few nice diy yards in the area imo , most are run down old farms etc whereas mine is a purpose biult yard set up to be clean & convenient! 9everything i didn't have when i was on diy!), most of the smart places only do full livery

I usually prefer to be on farms so don't mind paying £25 for my livery on an ex-dairy farm which now has lit/heated tack room, personal feed and hay/bedding space, large stables, individual all year turnout which is not restricted to certain times of day, soon to be a 40x20 floodlit arena and maybe a jumps paddock, small xc course a short hack away, excellent hacking, floodlit, fenced yard, lighting in all stables, water taps every few stables, personal electrical sockets... Bliss.

I would not pay more than £25 for this wherever I was, though. I would pay an extra £5-10 a week for a t/o or b/i a day plus rug change/feet.

mmm ,

so £25 a week diy

or £30 with turnout/in ( i do mine anyway )

or £35 with haylage

would seem a reasonable prospect? i guess if i just did bedding at cost they could have as little or much as they liked

Hmm interesting thread! Round here DIY is absolutely extortionate! I think it it is because YO would far prefer to have a full/part livery and so price it so that it becomes far more economical to opt for the full/part option. For example DIY up the road from me is .......... wait for it £45 per week and that is the going rate around here! Full livery is between £100 and £110 and part livery is around £85 to £90. So with the increases in fuel etc it soon becomes quite apparent that the full/part livery option is far more economical in the long run!!

good point about fuel , i didn't consider it as the facilities are at home , but unless someone lived on the doorstep they would spend more than the £5 a week i was thinking of for turnout/in

ironically enough i just bulk ordered my feed & bedding , when the guy told me the price he said wait a minute i'll check that it sounds too much ( was correct ) we then went on to discuss the prices of things in general , basically most of the things i buy from the feed merchant cost about 50% more than they did 2.5-3 years ago

whats the 'official' rate of inflation?.............

yeah i know! but i can't think of many things that the majority of british citizens spend the majority of their hard earned on that have only gone up by 3%

i was paying £45 per week until i managed to rent a run-down stable/arena for £125/month! mind you, when i say run-down, i really do mean it!!!!!

(think owner is hoping i will do it up so it will be worth more to him!!)
