Fairfax Girths

I'm thinking of getting a Fairfax dressage girth.

Does anyone have one or one of the other girths from their range? Did you notice a difference in your horses way of going or performance? Are they well made and easy to maintain? Has anyone had any problems or negative responses?

Sorry for all the questions, just want some reviews before I spend £220

I have the GP style fairfax and I love it, really lovely fit and definitely allows the horse more room to move through his shoulder. I would recommend definitely.

Do a search on here, there's been a couple of discussion threads in CR. Our young mare has just started wearing a Fairfax mono flap dressage saddle and girth, huge improvement to her length of stride and freedom of shoulder but don't honestly know if its the saddle or the girth!

No idea if will improve scores but mare so much happier now

I have one for my dressage saddle the horse saddle feels sort of extra secure and stable in it the horse seems a little extra free and loose ( might just be me justifying the apaulling price ) but the saddle is definatly better.

I will never part with my Fairfax dressage girth now, its totally brilliant, thought my mare might have ulcers, but this girth has stopped all that bitting when girthing up and totally impressed!

I would definitely try before you buy... I tried one last time I had my saddle check and not only did it not make any difference but my horse was girthy the next day very very disappointed as was open minded to the possibility it would do something! Although I did try the long one on my jumping saddle not the dressage version.

I think it's crewe saddlery that let you trial them.

Just finished trialling a long/GP girth and I will be buying it Definitely freed up his shoulder and foreleg and he's much more willing to work forwards in it. Looks super comfy on him and he *seems* a bit less grumpy to girth up (tho I think I'd need to use it longer to fully test that!) Nice soft leather and padding.

Someone I was hacking with on 2nd day of the trial commented how amazing the extension he was giving with his front legs in trot was (And I've hacked with her many times).

I'm another one that loves my GP Fairfax. Rubs on horses elbow are gone and she is no longer girthy, (although still blows herself out as much as she possibly can! ) She is much much more forward, seems to be more willing to work correctly and doesn't run off with me in canter anymore either. Now, not toally sure if these changes are due to the girth, or warmer weather and her spavins giving her less grief/fused....

Either way, I'm a happy bunny and worth it for me for the first 2 reasons alone.
