I would love a Fairfax GP saddle for Big Eared Alice.
When we had our saddle fitting appointment I took the two saddles I owned along with me. One a Thorowgood HWGP and the other a Fairfax GP. On initial look the saddler said she thought either could be a good fit once adjusted and flocked for her. I love the Fairfax so said I'd prefer that, On closer look its got short points, Its a low wither version. I bought it new but for another horse and hadn't realised at the time it wasnt just a standard GP (It fits and was used on Ziggy whi is more barrel like)
So we went with the Thorrowgood as I needed something asap and at least cost to trial her in.
Now I know she is staying I am looking at buying a similar 17" Fairfax GP and have the flocking adjusted as per original plan. As I know its going to fit I've been looking at Ebay and Market Place and there are a few for sale that would fit the bill.
I'll sell my Low wither version to fund it.
On the serial numbers I need it to state just GP or CGP (Classid GP) Some i see are listed as GP then in brackets (GPD) surely that's a different style? I'm assuming straighter flaps?
Can a saddle be both MGP and GPD or is that a mistake in the listing?

Then as I know basically what I'm looking for would you go Black or brown? There is no hurry. The TG fits fine and for hacking around does the job for now.

I’ll have a look at mine later 🙂.

I have a 17.5”” black Fairfax classic GPD saddle in MW, which fits my wonky 16.1hh IDx mare (a very different type to yours) beautifully. Fairfax are way better than Kent and Masters (I’ve owned both).

GPD means a straighter cut GP style sometimes known as a VSD style.

Me and horse love it. For up to and including fast hilly all terrain hacking and low level jumping and flatwork, but I’d want my leathers shorter for hunting.

Thank you! Yes I really love mine but short points and TB's are a no go.
Definitely interested to know how exactly yours is stamped please. I need to double check with my saddler what I'm looking for.

The problem being people guessing models I think, eg I see Rambo rugs for sale which are in fact Amigo's. I think its a perfectly innocent mistake but I don't want to end up with the wrong thing and am seeing ones advertised that imo don't match the stamp

Fairfax offer a free serial number check, it would be wisest to check direct with them.

Mine has the individual 6 digit serial number plus GPD at the end, and underneath it has 175 (the size).
