I have spoken to a few people about the Fairfax Performance Girth, who said it really improved their horse, and i was really fancing one for myself :p

for £240 are they worth it?

Does anyone have any feedback on them?

Thanks!

absolutely 100% !! not only do they improve your horse, but surely just knowing that your horse isn't in a great load of pain because of the girth is enough! :D

£240!!!

Cripes, didn't realise they were that expensive. I was reading about themthe other day as my youngster seems to be having issues with his girth so I figures, make him comfy so I know I am not causing him to work when in some degree of discomfort. Blimey though £240!!!

Yes i know! As a showjumper i wanted the stud version, £390 though! horse doesnt need it anyway! Can get away with the standard one!

Hmm, think I will start with mine back on the old faithful cottage craft one (didn't seem to object to this at initial backing stage!) and then, maybe one day when/iif he decides to turn his hoof to something useful and quits throwing me off, he may get treated! :D

We have one horse who HATED it and was really odd about it, another horse who is significantly better in it.
Try before you buy!

haha! ive got a ****** of an arab, currently at my record of 3 lessons without falling off in a row :D

I event , do working hunters and hunt for hours all the time in winter. I'm seriously thinking of getting one , mainly for comfort for my horse out hunting. I never over girth but I'm sure he ll be more comfortable in a fairfax than my leather balding girth for hours on end .

To be fair, I think mine's reacting to some discomfort and lack of confidence in certian situations(no excuse for a rodeo act mind!). I am determind to ensure I at least can be confident he is comfortable in his tack so thought these might be an idea. Wonder if you can return them if you/or the horse are not happy with them?

I have an Ideal Dressage Affinity girth, and the difference in my horses way of going is unbelievable. Oh and it only costs around £90 too :D x I would try different ones to see what suits your horse best

hm yes, i suppose like anything, if only used a few times and in good condition you should be able to get a refund, have to look into it!

Our local tack shop hires them out for you to try for a couple if weeks, so it's worth asking if you local place does too, as its a lot to pay out if your horse decides he / she doesn't like it

in what way?

The leather is of average quality, as are the metal fixtures, It isn't particularly flexible - I'd go so far as to say pretty rigid even, when it is fastened, the back of the girth is tighter than the front (ie, under her belly, the side closer to her back legs, rather than her front legs), so the pressure distribution is loaded towards the back and it has made zero difference to her way of going. My expectations were realistic and I didn't imagine her to be transformed overnight but there is NO discernible change.

Google Fairfax girth trial and I imagine a few saddleries that do a trial will come up.
You pay a trial fee (say £20-30), they send you one (need to measure yr own girth first) you try it for a week or two and if you aren't impressed/don't feel it makes any difference/don't want it,you post it back to them and have therefore only lost the trial fee and some postage. If you do want it,you pay the balance (usually less the trial fee) and keep it. Good idea:)
