I just spotted this news story, a Jack Russell remained with her deceased owner in the Colorado mountains for 10 weeks after they both went for a walk and ended up going missing. Apparently she has lost half her bodyweight but is otherwise ok, and the deceased man's family are overjoyed that she survived and is now home. The man's wife said the dog was devoted to him, which she has clearly proven:
It's a lovely story, but also heart breaking that the dog has lost the human friend who meant so much to her. It sounds as though she will have a lot of love lavished on her by the family though.
