Just wondering if there is BIG difference between the two i have been looking at a fal turnout and i am wantign a viking, is it worth spending 60 pounds more for the silver interactive? i dont might spending it but if its not a big deal then its silly to when i can get the rug cheaper without the silver interactive.

My friend has uses the silver LW TO, could have been a coincedence, however she had one normal fal TO which lasted her horse 7years, and he trashed the silver LW TO to almost an unrepairable state (£75 repairs) in like 3 months...

As its a lightweight TO the heat it holds in/reflects isnt really that relevant however up until Tuesday this week he has been fully clipped and just wearing that rug and hes been warm enough....

Both my horses have a full collection of fal rugs and its cost me a fortune, but in over 3 years of use the turnouts have not one rip in them, they dont rub either horse at all and wash up like brand new rugs ever year !! Fal rugs are just great, and if you look out for special offers equestrian warehouse clearance have them very cheep at the min

It's meant to be better for the horse's skin than normal rugs, especially if you leave the rugs on all the time, and it's also meant to keep the horse at an optimum temperature instead of just warm/ too warm/ too cold. I can only afford one fal, let alone a silver one, but my friend who has a silver stable rug doesn't think much of it and doesn't think it's really worth the extra.

Aside from the climate control "thing" that the rugs claim, silver has therapeutic benefits. It's supposed to increase blood flow which theoretically should aid in reducing swellings, faster healing and that kinda thing (bit along the lines of how magnotherapy should work).

IMO, it depends if you buy into that line of thinking. I do use magnotherapy and would definitly pay the extra for the silver version of the rug - any advantage i can give my horse is worth it for me. Fal rugs should last (although i personally prefer horseware) and if you're investing in a rug that should give you several years of use, then the extra cash for the silver lining isnt such a big deal.
