what can you do if you know someone is falsely (sp) advertising a horse? As in its described as perfect, safe etc etc but you know 100% that its not! I dont want to lose track of the horse so haven't approached them for fear of not finding out where the horse goes and I dont think it would change anything about their advert.

TBH just because a horse did something once (or many times!) in the past doesn't mean it will do it again. Unless you have specific evidence (veterinary records/video) of it doing something the advert says it has /never/ done there probably isn't a lot of point in calling trading standards.

The only sure way not to loose track of it of course is to buy it... could you have a frank discussion with owner (assuming you're interested/have money, time and facilities) and say that despite knowing [whatever it is] you're prepared to take horse on (assuming you are)?

I agree with Tickles, horses can be trained out of bad habits.

I have a brood mare here who, I was told, was a chronic weaver but since she has been here (4 years) I have never seen her weave once, even when she is left in on her own.

Also had many horse that were classed as dangerous or lunatic yet they never did a thing wrong.
Should these horses be labeled because a previous owner couldn't manage them?
