OK well all my life [65 years!] I have tried to explain that I work at the highest echelons of the horse world, now I am retired, I decided to treat myself to a lesson at the Yorkshire Riding Centre Aug2011, where they teach dressage to Olympians!!!!],
now my Bro has decided to treat me to a hack at the local RS, weep! I don't want to disappoint him but really, I ride my own yak every day, and it would be a treat to have a day off!!!!

:D:D That reminds me of people saying "why are you having lessons I thought you could ride already":D:D
At least they care.

Next time ask for spa vouchers....

Every time I go away people always think I will want to hire a local hack..um..no!!!!! For all the reasons OP stated!

Could you not persuade brother to give you a voucher for the tack shop instead - then at least you could spend it on feed! This is the sort of reason why we don't do presents in our family, just cards!

Haha, my well meaning husband almost bought me the best lesson a local Riding school could provide - a private hack! thanks god they didn't accept the booking as he didn't know my exact weight. It was £50, I can get a couple decent lessons for that.
