We have a 12yrs old weimaraner and never considered having a second dog.
My family are asthmatics and my brothers son is very allergic to cats and some dogs.
They despartely want to have a dog and are thinking of a bichon freese (sorry if mispelt) now the problem is that they won't know if thier son will be allergic as he can be fine for a day or two but could get affected over a longer time.

Here's my problem, they don't want to get a dog and then have to rehome it but worry about thier son and have asked if i would possibly take the dog on if thier son has problems.

I've yet to discuss it with my OH as he's away but feel that if i say no then they will never know if they can have a dog or not and i know they would really love it but it's not the breed my OH would want either and how my dog would take to a new dog in her late years, or if it's fair on her.

What do you think i should do and if you think i should say yes how do i persued the OH.

Of course thier son might be fine with the dog and then the problem would never arise...........

Oh difficult one. I would say yes, but then again I am a big softie! Would anyone else be able to take it on if you couldn't?

How about a miniature schnauzer? As they don't cast at all, so that would be less of an irritant.

I second what gina_B says...... my daughter is also asthmatic as is my husband, and all three of us get animal related hay fever....

We are all fine with Zak!!!

Perhaps you could find a local dog who the lad could spend some time with, or offer to foster a bischon from a rescue home?? (unlikely I know, but possible).

Good luck, and even if you cant take the dog there would be lots of people that would, especially if the price were to be reduced.
