Family Dog Show

My OH has been roped into judging at one this afternoon.
Apparently I’m stewarding.
I keep remembering when James Herriot judged at a show and was in danger of being lynched!
I’m hoping it will be too hot for anyone to actually turn up. Me bad!

Haha we judged family dog shows for years (the perils of owning a pet shop), the trick is to make sure you spread the rosettes out evenly - nobody needs more than one first place! I bet it’ll be rammed, good luck.

If it's a legit fun family dog show you'll be fine - if it's a semi serious companion dog show it'll be cutthroat and I wish you both good luck. ?

I think we’re ok, it’s waggiest tail and things. Fastest biscuit eater… surely they choke? Mine would! ?

We often do these as our kids love doing them- the only one that I took issue with was one in aid of a dog charity where the judge massively favoured designer crossbreeds in every class. I didn’t say anything, but to me it was at odds with the ethos of the charity.

Actually it isn’t too hot down here. A nice breeze and plenty of shade. We survived.
If the puppies hadn’t woken us up at 5am I might feel stronger right now.

great fun though. Took Rocky to one recently. He wagged his tail so hard in "Fabulous Fella" class the judge said to me "I hope you've entered "Waggiest tail"! Great I though quids in!

Anyway Waggiest Tail started and he resolutely refused to wag his anymore!!! ??????????? Men!

I took our rescue Lab x Collie, who was filthy in the house (we were 4th home!!) in a 'Dog who wees the most' at a local show.

He was mystified at the selection of traffic cones, bean poles etc and spent the alotted time resisting the urge. OH said that if only there were sofas, beds and bins he could empty and wee over the contents of, he would win in fastest time with the most urine produced??

Aw takes me back to when I had my bitch Heinz 57 from Birmingham Dogs home, I used to take her to all these novelty shows, she used to win prettiest bitch, waggiest tail and obedience, she was very good and loved it and we used to have loads of fun.
