Basis of the story is that one of the horses on the full livery yard I work on was rushed to liverpool vet hospital this morning with severe colic. On examination there he has been found to have four areas of impaction colic and is in surgery right now.
The horse nor the owner deserve this bad luck, so I was wondering if you kind hearted HHOers would give some vibes in the direction of Felix tonight.
Also, I have (luckily I suppose!) not had any experience of impaction colic...I lost my old lad to strangulation colic where a tumour on a thread wrapped round his gut, and my big girl Melly has had a couple of bouts of very mild gassy colic. I have also helped a friend out recently with her old lad when he has colicy and lami symptoms, so I know the clinical signs of colic, but not much about the causes of the impaction... could anyone shed any light for me?
Many thanks x

Just to update, Felix was put down this afternoon, the 'impaction' colic turned out to be 4 separate tumours, of which only 3 could be removed, the remaining tumour released toxins into his system and his body just couldnt cope.
His owner is in bits, and Im numb and in tears even though he wasnt mine...I have cared daily for him for over 2 years, so he was a part of my life. Having suddenly lost a horse myself I know the rug pulled out from under you feeling they must be going through.
Thank you for your well wishes Azmar and werlymerly x

I'm so so sorry it turned out like that.
Sleep peacefully Felix, massive hugs for his owner and you Rosehip. What a terrible shock for you both.
