Basis of the story is that one of the horses on the full livery yard I work on was rushed to liverpool vet hospital this morning with severe colic. On examination there he has been found to have four areas of impaction colic and is in surgery right now.
The horse nor the owner deserve this bad luck, so I was wondering if you kind hearted HHOers would give some vibes in the direction of Felix tonight.
Also, I have (luckily I suppose!) not had any experience of impaction colic...I lost my old lad to strangulation colic where a tumour on a thread wrapped round his gut, and my big girl Melly has had a couple of bouts of very mild gassy colic. I have also helped a friend out recently with her old lad when he has colicy and lami symptoms, so I know the clinical signs of colic, but not much about the causes of the impaction... could anyone shed any light for me?
Many thanks x
