We moved the horses last night, the field they have gone in contains our muck heap... sister thought maybe we should fence it off to keep the horses off it. I didn't see the point as there is some grass in this field, thought they'd be far too busy with that. She thought Ivy would clamber all over it...

Guess who was right...

Little sod, you can see on her back feet, darker coloured shavings to match the hole in the muck heap on her left...

Mind you, I bet G bribed her up there with carrots just to prove a point!!!

They were all going mad yesterday when we were putting the fence up... there is a strip down the middle of the field - the runway for farmers little noddy plane... and the horses get the bits either side, and the side they are on is bare now so we fenced the other side to move them to. They were galloping up and down like loonies - I could just see them shouting "lemme get in there NOW!!!!!"

When we did move them last night, they had a very brief run around then their heads were down scoffing!

We've moved them early as the grass, though there is some, is still quite scrubby - that side gets far less sun and is much dryer, so this way we are on top of the grazing and its not getting mad and lush.

Saying that - for the first time in about 12 years - I can SEE Asti's ribs! Not massively, you can feel them, but you can now see the shadow of them when she moves. I almost feel guilty but she still looks very well coming out of a winter, and at least she can have some grass.

There is a pony on our yard who tries to drag his owner over to the muck heap for a roll!! As soon as he sees it he litrally charges over and gets straight down

I'd be in so much trouble if she did, for not agreeing to fence it off... I'd laugh a lot though...

I'd say "can you imagine the colour she'd end up rolling in that???"

But I don't need to imagine, have seen it first hand. She's a particularly filthy beast, which is not good when she's that colour. I find it hilarious but then I don't have to brush her. Buy is Gail going to get her own back if Asti has a mainly grey leopard spot foalie!!!
