It seems that eveytime I read horse magazines etc that steeling our beloved horses is happening more and more.
We have no choice but to tuck our beloved partners in at night then walk away til morning.....
I always look for my mare in the fiels as I drive up and smile when she recognised the car engine and gives me a welcoming whinney.
If one day she was not there ..I don't know what I would do.
It seems our only defence is Freezemarking and microchipping.
Microchipping is fine if you horse is found or handed in as lost.
Freezemarking deters some but not all.......I came accross an artical today about BIOCHIPS for humans.... which if you don't know is a GPS microchip for children which if abducted can be used to locate their exact whereabouts within a few meters....
Well this strikes me as a perfect anti theft device for our horses if its ok to be used on children ...why is it not offered to us horse owners. I for one would have it instead of the normal microchip. it makes better sense surely?
Your arrive at yard to find you horse gone, 2 phone calls to the police and the biochip company and bingo they can tell you exactly where your horse is.
any other thoughts on this?
