Well as the title says my lovely soft lad may be sold, the owner has been given a offer and has accepted all the buyer has to do now is talk to her husband.

I am soooooooooo Pleased!

Marley is my project horse, hes a 9year old 16hh-16.1hh Cleveland Bay x Gelding who is a really affectionate boy.

He was brought by a lady on my yard when her marriage broke up but after the initial 2 week novelty wore off he was abandonded in the field.

He was left in the field for 3 years without so much as his owner calling up to see how he was. I used to go down and spend some time with him and have a cuddle whenever i could because there is just something so special about this horse, hes got such a good soul its untrue.

Anyway last summer his owner turned up with her daughter (who has another 2 abandonded horses in the same field) tottally ignored her own 2 grabbed hold of Marley dragged him in tacked him up and stood around waiting for a prospective buyer to turn up - yes thats right they were expecting to sell him that day even though his feet were atrocious, he was dangerously overweight, was scared of his own shadow on the yard because he was now virtually wild.

Suffice to say the lady who came to have him decided against it! thank god!!

I eventually spoke to Marleys owner and asked if seeing as they were "Too busy" to do anything with him i could start to get him used to being handled and eventually bring him back in to work.

Since then i have got his trust, hes groomed daily along with my other 3 (Ingrid the Fordj is also their horse who i look after) his feet are nearly back to normal, he can be tacked up and ridden, still working on the hacking out but im not too bothered about that as i really need to wait until we can get shoes on him. But all in all hes a really lovely boy.

Anyway my moms friend who is a complete novice and has never owned a horse before came down and fell in love with him, she has put a offer in (very cheap bargain price with tack) and will use the rest of the money she has saved to put in to him ie: new tack, dentist, full check over by the vet and eventually have him reschooled professionally and will learn on him.

I however will continue to do the work with him until this has all been sorted, my moms friend did offer to pay me to reschool him but with work and bringing Indi on i just dont have the time plus i feel that it will do Marley good to actually be handled and ridden by other people.

Both me and my mom will be helping her friend and teaching her stable and horse managment and will always be on hand for when she needs advice or her questions asked.

I am just so pleased that this big loveable pony of mine will be going to a home who will love him the way he deserves to be and i also still get to play a part in his life.

Just fingers crossed now that the husband says yes!!

Thanks, im praying that he says yes lol. I would of loved him for myself but its just not possible financially with the ones i have.

This is him the day i took over: he looks quite poor here because we were just coming in to spring.

This is the only other picture i have on my photobucket.

You cant really see how much different he is although he feet look better and you can see the muscle and weight on his chest.

My lad Indi is the one lying down - my pride and joy!

Please excuse our fields, they were being moved over hence the reason there is no grass lol

Bless him (with the headcollar)....
He has such gental eyes, like he wouldnt hurt a fly....

I can definatly see a change with feet, weight, and muscle in that picture. And i cant even see all of him and he still looks brilliant!

How long have you been looking after him?

Erm about 10 months i would say now (actually cant remember).

He is very very gentle and really does want to please with his work etc its just sometimes he lacks confidence and looks to his rider / handler for it hence the reason i think that once the sale has gone through it will do him good to get experience from others handling and riding him.

Im just glad that he will be staying at my yard.

Awww bless him.

He sounds like what mickey used to be like with his confidence (and still can be). So i know exactly where your coming from.

It will be so nice for you to see him grow into a super horse (if your mum's friend has him) over the years to come. And like you said he will be at the same yard with you, so you can step in when ever you think you need to, and she can ask for help.

And also what you have to remember is that you have given him a second chance for being a GREAT horse, without you he would probably still be stuck standing in the field getting worse.

that is fantastic and seems like the perfect situation so if anything goes wrong you know where he is and can keep an eye on how hes doing.

I bet you feel really proud!

when i took my project pony on she had had a perfect life ect. so not really the same thing but she was very cold (not pysically) and was quite harsh seeing the difference in her when her owners to be came to see her was amazing i hadn't realised how much she had changed she was soo effectionate(sp) and loving. People asked me why i wasn't upset and my answer was because i am sooo proud of her, and i am guessing thats the sort of thing you have got

it sounds like you have done an amazing job with this lad
