Does anyone else find the horse magazines a bit lame? I'm a big fan of mags but have found myself buying them and thinking 'what a waste on money that was.'
Can anyone recommend a great monthly (or even website) for my equestrian fix - apart from H&H that is (although I only tend to look at the pics as I don't really compete

I don't often buy horse magazines as they are a lot of money for what you get.

I do keep all my old ones though and go back through them when I need a fix. I'm a BHS member so receive British Horse bi-monthly which is quite good for saying it is included in your membership.

If I do buy a magazine I tend to go for Your Horse or Horse and Rider as I find these have more to read in them and are more relevent.

I think discipline-specific magazines are much better, the others are way too boring.

I am a dressage rider and have been subscribed for many years to Dressage magazine (American magazine but they send it to Europe as well obviously and if you subscribe it's dead cheap) and that is really, really interesting.

But 'mainstram' mags, like Your Horse or Horse&Rider I very rarely buy.

I find that they don't seem to have much content. Not anything new, anyway. I also get frustrated when they say 'Great new rug guide' but then don't give you any more info than you'd find in the latest Robinsons catalogue! I don't care what colour it is, how well does it fit my horse and is it really waterproof?
I may be a bit out of touch here, but I'd rather see less short, boxy features and more 10 page epics on what it's really like to ride a schoolmaster round a Grade A track, or ride with the ranchers in Colorado during a drive. Oh well, I can but dream...

I like 'Your Horse' but they tend to repeat the same stuff like laminitis, sweet itch in the summer and mud fever, feeding etc in the winter
