FAO any vets: re muffin the diabetic cat

Hi,

I don't know if anyone out there remembers the posts about muffin my diabetic cat.

Basically, he took a turn for the worse and the vet thought he might have had an infection so he is on antibiotics.

While he was there she also noticed he had a lump in his side. She said it could be constipation, kidney problems or a tumor.

Since he has been back home, few days he has barely eaten. He has eaten nothing for 2 days, only drank water. He is happy enough, just weak. He is due to go back tomorrow.

Now, he is definitely not going for number 2s. He did one 3 days ago (day after he came back from vets) and it was like a bullet. Poor little mite howled before it came out.

Now my question is, do you think it is constipation and he doesn't want to eat because he is full, or do you think he isn't eating because it is something more serious.

I know it is a pointless post really but I am hoping someone will be able to say something. Just want my little man to be better.

certainly sounds like he could have a bit of a blockage - you could try feeding him 1ml of liquid paraffin twice daily, but sounds like he might need an enema if he's that bunged up. vet will be able to feel his tummy and tell you.
 
Oh mm this doesn't sound good. How old is your moggie? If he's elderly and has the sprinkling of health probs that come with a good age, then he might have something serious. From a lay point of view, the lump doesn't sound good. But then again, he HAS passed a motion, even though very hard and painful. The thing is, he could not be eating because he has a serious internal blockage OR he could be feeling awful with his infection so he's just not eating. Your vets are the only ones who can advise - draw up a list of things you need to ask before you go for your appt coz you'll forget half of it in the vets and kick yourself afterwards. I do hope it's not serious but gotta say if he was mine and is elderly, I'd be worried. Please let us know how he does hun xxx
 
Poor wee lad - my understanding is that the first 2 years of a cat's life = 25 years in human terms and then each subsequent cat year = 4 human years. So my mog Spencer - who had a brush with death himself 5 months ago - is 13 which = 69 human years which isn't that old really. So your moggie = 73 in human years which again isn't old but isn't young either. Any news on the lump or things in general? Got everything crossed for him xxx
 
Hes still here thanks for asking but hes not great. He is constipated now and has to go back to the vets tomorrow because he is so weak he cant walk properly
