They definately had the get up and go at the start lol they knew what was coming rest of the round was slow and steady just like the mallies

A lot of the working assosiations are starting open classes for those who have none sledding breeds and/or none KC sled dogs/pure bred sled dogs
The classes are regulary full of Collies, GSDs, Aussies, hounds, pointers and these guys its great to see them enjoying themselves

CC its quite easy to teach your dogs to do it I know your two would love it, would you like me to send you some links to some working guides?

Oh yes spent a lot of time waiting for a certain musher and their akitas to finish the class, the odd check on the radio to see that they were actually still on the course, especially on the night run! And eventually and in their own time they would appear at a rather Leisurely pace!!!!! They used to sit on the start line then when told to go they would get up and go!!! They now have Mals, and I still wait but not for as long, the freight type dog classes are a bit like busses (sorry everyone) nothing for ages then loads all together! I love Akitas, but their attitude!!

My collie X Spaniel had a go with some of Sis's team years ago, but Husky's are professionals and she got told off for making noise when they were running, (husky etiquette is you can yell like a banshee until the timer says go, then you shut up and Pull)!!

Keep threatening to put my two on the rig, maybe it would tire them out, though running round the entire course collecting markers doesn’t do the trick for long!!

CC Ask lynn she has had Nick on the sled for a few short trips and is hoping to do the open classes next year with her two veteran sibes and the GSD who is learning to shriek in the van admiably!

When I was little and we had proper snowy winters we used to attach a couple of the GSDs to a sledge and they pulled us round the fields. We used to use headcollars as harnesses

The dogs loved it (Granit was one of them CC

lol lol know exactly what you mean about the mallies although have seen a few running with sibes and are becoming the fastest teams in D2 classes, my mal bitch thinks shes a sibe travels the speed with my other two but just cant keep it up for as long thats why Moot number two is destined to join us next summer so OH can keep his sibe team and I`ll have my slow and steady moots

I know there were pics but sadly we discovered when sorting mums things that at some point she must have thrown out/destroyed nearly all her photos

Very sad cos not only were there all the childhood photos of my brother and I but also quite a history of the GSD world over 50 odd years.
