A set of broken ribs, followed by my PC crashing 5 times over the past couple of months has meant I've been offline. Think the PC's finally sorted after an expensive trip and upgrade c/o PC World.

About the foal and whether I went to view, nah didn't in the end. Ribs too sore to even THINK about buying another one, at the time LOL. And rather expensive, too.

Kind of glad I didn't purchase another youngster in April. Had to have my 8 year old riding horse PTS last week, due to degenerative loss of sight. He was not coping at all well towards the end (hence my broken ribs). So, I'm starting to look for a riding horse, now. Would like to short-term loan one this time, as I've my 2 year old WBxTB to back next year and she'll be hard work by the temperament on her

Gosh, sounds like you've had a bit of a nightmare.
I'm sorry about your horse

Shame about the youngster too but seems it has worked out for the best all round really. Hope you find a nice horse to loan. What are you looking for?

Yes, it has been a vile few months. Thought my ribs were never going to stop hurting, but thankfully they do seem 100% painless now. Phew.

And yes, having my horse shot last week was traumatic. In 33 years of owning horses I've never had to have one PTS or die in my care, so it was a first for me. I held him whilst the deed was done, and know he did not anticipate anything or suffer in anyway - too busy nosing at the Polo packet in my hand, bless him. It was a relief to know it was painless and quick but I'm haunted remembering the image of afterwards. Poor boy. And only just turned 8, too.

TBH I'm not fussed about the horse or pony I have on loan. Just as long as he/she is a happy hacker, sound, sane and can carry upto 11½ stone initially. I put on 1½ stone comfort eating whilst recouping from the ribs, and doing no exercise or horsey-chores. Horrid, mind you I did eat really crud food so deserve to suffer now loosing the weight again. LOL. That's why I NEED to find a riding horse to keep me in shape, else my filly is going to take one look at me next year and run for the hills in terror at the thought of me mounting her. Can't say I'd blame her
