Apologies, as I could have sent a PM but I'm not sure mine work (or the people I send them to just don't respond :p)

In April 09 you did a thread about how big your horse would grow based on the measurement of her bone...the different methods suggested she would be 16.3 or 18hh! I just wondered what height she did make as her measurements are almost exactly the same as my rising 2 year old :)

Thanks in advance!

Hi!!!

She's presently standing a bit over 16.2. She's WBxTB and will be 5 this May so may make the 16.3 mark in the end. Thankfully she didn't make 18 hands though, as I'm only 5'1! Her dam's sire was 16.3 so I guess she's inherited his height. Her dam was 15.1 and sire 16.1.

Thanks for responding :-D

So it was the elbow to fetlock measurement then...thats interesting and good to know...I'd love it if my boy makes around 16.2 :-)

How's he bred? And do you know anything about his ancestor's heights?

I bred mine hoping she'd be bigger than her dam (and her dam's full brother who'd only finished at 14.3 ), as they were both too small. I was hoping this one would make 15.3'ish and she's made a hand bigger!!! This one's absolutely beautiful and perfect for what I wanted except she was born with bilateral bench knees which stops her from being able to do it..... so I guess she's not ENTIRELY what I wanted. Ah, the joys of breeding your own, eh :( If there's ever a next time, I'll buy a youngster!
