Farrier has left toes long (IMO)

Hi all, I’ve somewhat recently moved back home after working away on a yard with my gelding for 5 years. My farrier at my old job kept his feet on the shorter side but never too short and he went very well like this.

My long-time farrier at home who is very well respected in the area has now started shoeing him again (we’ve been back 8 months) and whilst I haven’t noticed any lameness issues, he does keep his feet a lot longer than the other farrier.

Maybe I’m used to seeing them shorter but he’s just visited a week ago and I think they look like they need doing again.

The other horse (a 25 year old) that he does at my yard also has very long toes and I always assumed it was just how his feet were naturally but now I think this maybe due to the shoeing.

Question is how do I ask a farrier nicely to do my horse’s feet shorter without offence? Do farriers tend to find this request annoying?

Anyways I’m putting pictures down at the bottom - please tell me if I’m being silly 🤪

I’ve written 1 W B (1 week before shoeing) and 1 W A (1 week after shoeing)
thanks!

Defo need straight on photos as can't see otherwise but it looks like the hoof wall has been dumped especially on the backs from the old farrier so not ideal either.

Frankly if you're not happy with the job then you just need to be honest with the farrier. I've had to say to mine that he's done too much sometimes and remind him to do less as mine is already sore generally. Once or twice it looked like he had taken too much heel off and have asked to just be mindful of it. Equally you're perfectly within your rights to find a new farrier regardless of how well respected the farrier is. I've been through a few...some of which did great jobs on some horses but totally butchered mine....several times!!
