I dont know if anyone has seen my past posts regarding my horse and the issues with her being good for the farrier. Even if a farrier arrives on the yard she would take herself to a back corner of her stable and not move until they had done. She hates them due to bad shoeing/ farrier before I bought her.

My farrier has been very good and patient with her even when shes on 2 back legs trying to kill us both and being bolschy and running through us etc. It got that bad that I decided to get the vet out everytime to sedate her for her own sake and the farriers safety!

Anyway we decided to take her shoes off 3 months ago and had the vet there to sedate her and last time he came 6 weeks ago we decided to try her without sedation from the vet but I did give her some Sedalin. This didnt work and within 5 mins of him starting she tried it on but gave up when she realised she wasnt going to win.

BUT

today the farrier has been and she was as good as gold, no Sedation, Sedalin or anything, She just stood there for him! I couldnt believe it. She was that good I didnt even need to hold her, although I did just in case. I cant explain how proud of her I am!

He said she had great feet and didnt need anything touching/ doing. he didnt touch the frogs or anything, all he did was literally tidy up and round the fronts off as they had a few chips in. He didnt do or touch anything else. He said she was dealing with her feet herself and her feet were sorting themselves out and to carry on doing what Im doing as she was doing really well.

I can honestly say I never thought the day would come that she would be barefoot and also good for the farrier and Im just so happy and proud!
