Hello everyone I am new to the forum. I recently heard the term ‘run away’ when referring to the shape of the hoof. Can anyone explain this to me please?

its when the hoof has slipped forwards/heels run forwards rather than supporting the hoof properly

bit like this, you can see that the whole hoof would need to come backwards to get alignment back

Thankyou so much. My mare had Laminitis in 2021. Rotated and dropped pedal bone with an abscess too. Horrendous job to fix it. My Farrier now keeps her front toe short but someone commented. I wanted to just understand so that I can discuss it with him.
