hi , I just want to hear if anyone know anything about this..my 6 year old gelding that is not lame for the time being was shut the other day by my farriere..he then told me afterwards, that the hind legs (feet ) are facing a bit backwards, and that his feet are broken ( a way of saying ) and that he will eventually be lame..for good.. do any of you know anything about this..are they born with this ? should I call for a vet to have x-rays done ?
please help if you know anything about this..

Sounds like he is referring to a broken back conformation.

This is an xray of one - the hoof wall at the front has a slope less than 45 degrees to the ground and the pastern is at about 45 degrees - broken back hoof pastern axis.

I would may be get your vet out to check the horse over and clarify if this is the case and what you need to do to minimise problems in the future.

Hope I have interpreted your post ok.

Imogen
