Farriers - NE Scotland

Since I haven't heard from my farrier since September

(I've had my barefoot trimmer do my horse as well, she had to take his shoes off at the beginning though as farrier never came and despite leaving numerous messages - he's done a disappearing act again). Need horse shod in March for competing. I know farriers are notoriously difficult to get onto their books up here but does anyone know of anybody taking on new people (and who don't charge stupid prices to shoe)?

Theres 1 in aberdeenshire area chris (cant remember his last name) he pretty much will always try fit people in.
we use mike Veer but i dont know if he is taking on new clients i will ask next time he is out though.

these are all the ones i have met whilst working at a riding school to. i know they are like gold dust around here and they know it to!
unfortunately i dont know their numbers to give to you however i think chris is in the yellow pages and also get the green paper scotads they sometimes advertise in their. best of luck i know how dificult it can be. x

Try Mike Veer or Ron Aitkin. Grant Kerr still does some shoeing but you may be too far away from him.

You could try Jamie Playle, but I dont think he's taking anyone on at the mo.

Jason Sim is back and working in the area too.

where abouts are you i know a number of farriers around edin and glasgow way but dont know if that is where you are

Thanks - I'll try the ones mentioned. We used to use Jamie Playle for years but he then decided to only do yards

Why do you need your horse shod for competing? I compete mine barefoot with no problems - in fact their feet look a lot better than most of my friend's horses who are shod and competing.
