Fashion crisis.

Not really a fashion crisis, but still need some help.
I've entered Ben and myself in a dressage class, it's only intro B, but we've got to start somewhere! My crisis is do I wear outfit A, B or C?

A) Black Jacket, white stock shirt, white stock and white jods

B) tweed jacket, cream shirt, red tie, cream jods.

C) Something else?? coloured stock maybe?


Ben is a black dales pony, if this helps with colour choices?
 
I'm a bit nervous about it all really. I didn't realise when I signed us up, that its quite a posh yard, with a lot of posh people, and their posh horses. I love Ben to bits and in my eyes i'll always come away with the best pony but I'm worried the judges will be a bit mean because he's "au natural" and not pulled and plaited!
 
B definitely :) I love Dales ponies, and I'm sure the judge would prefer to see a native au natural as that's correct rather than pulled and plaited! Good luck and let us know how you get on.
 
So you guys think I should embrace our nativeness and go all out tweed?
I exercise him with his mane in a running plait so its out the way do you think I should do this or leave him looking like the rockstar he thinks he is? ;)
 
Yes I would go with B and not plait his mane but have it as tidy and silky as you can. Dont worry about it being a 'posh' yard I bet there are some nice people there and if you just smile and do your own thing you will be fine. Get someone to take pictures and post on here afterwards!! :)
 
Thank you for all your kindess! Haven't competed in a couple of years, and I get so nervous/wound up about it!
I'm going to drag my brother along to capture some snaps/ video for me so I can watch it back and apply the judges comments to each section so we can improve and hopefully get some decent scores in the future :)
 
I wear tweed on my cob for everything, including dressage, and he always goes unplaited.

The first time we went for dressage, just an intro class, I felt the same as you, worried that people would look down their noses at us and when we pulled up and all the other the horses were warmbloods or tbs I was terrified!
But! Then I had a couple of lovely people come up to me and say how nice he was, how nice his feathers were etc... Made me feel so much more at ease.

And we came away 4th so having beaten some of those warmbloods, it does wonders for your confidence!

Yay someone else with feathers! haha
I now have the ultimate question for you! Ben's feathers are "floor length" they cover all his hoof on all four feet. should I leave them, or give them a slight trim?
 
B is much more correct and will look better on a native too.

Don't worry about it being full of posh warmbloods, at club dressage wbs are normally vastly outnumbered by cobs, natives, coloureds etc.

Yes of course, we have only been doing dressage since Jan, ive had a long break from riding when i got him.
We have done 5 intro tests now, our first score was 58%, and weve risen up to 66%, but this week we came 2nd with 59% although the winner got 60% and some got 52%(i think the judge was being a bit mean to everyone!!)
However we were a bit excited, cantering up the centre line to say hello to the judge!! ;) ;)

that's brilliant well done! I'll be happy if we get 58 on our first outing!
