'Fashionable' SJ stallion to suit this ISH mare please

I've just had a very smart ISH mare arrive for foaling - and owner is seeking my advice on a suitable stallion to put her to. She's in foal to a TB - Grand Finale (Ire) He's be just as happy to put her to one of my IDs - but as the foal will be for sale, and as the mare is bred to jump I suggesated that a serious SJ stallion would give him a better chance of selling the foal well!

She is by Furistos Trump out of a Laughton's Flight mare so KoD on both sides of the pedigree (via Diamonds are Trumps on the sire's side and Laughton's Flight on the dam's side.) She is nicely put together with a good temperament and no obvious conformation faults other than slightly flat feet.

Any thoughts?? We're in the Midlands so either local or available by chilled semen preferred.
 
There are so many lovely show jumping stallion in the UK, it would really depend on how light she would want to go.

As she has used a TB on her for 2011, there are two that spring to mind El Thuder and Balloon, both are very elegant boys with outstanding jumps.

Both available chilled from Brendon Stud.
 
As relates to cost El Thuder is the more economical being £500 LFG and Balloon £1000 so depends on budget too. I can personally vouch for El Thuder's temperament as well and just found out he today won a RIHS B&C qualifier.

She can afford a lighter stallion - her sire is out of an AID mare and while the dam sire Laughton's Flight is graded ISH he was very close to pure ID. The mare has good bone and plenty of depth!

Couldn't see a Balloon on the Brendon site - but I very much like El Thuder - wonderful movement!! And the price is right - the mare's owner is used to paying around the £350-400 for stud fees - £500 wouldn't frighten him to death!:D
 
my friend has an el thuder colt and my mare is in foal to an el thuder colt, both have very nice personalitys and are nicely put together. can't comment on balloon as i have seen him or his offspring, he is shane breen's horse so may available via brendons as he rides for shirley.
 
Yeah Balloon doesn't belong to Brendons - just collects there. He belongs to Shane Breen. Having had 2 El Thuder babies and eagerly waiting a granddaughter now I cannot rate him highly enough. Super blood stallion for a WB and with a temp to die for!

Tam - the first link - might be a good example for your friend as was out of a WB x ISH mare who is a decent stocky build.
 
Breen website says only available frozen at mo so may well just be collecting at Brendons when comp committments allow. This is his first season at stud I think.

Balloon has foals due this year, he is available frozen for sure, but you'd have to email Shane to se if he's doing fresh as well, I'm not sure!

He was GORGEOUS - what a tragedy for you!

Shirley, I'll have a chat to mare's owner (he usually takes my advice after I've bashed him around the head a bit!:D) She's not due to foal until beginning of April - but this year he DID bring her nice and early which shows he's listening!

I just hope she turns out to be a good Mum - I always wonder a bit about nice mares who are sold very cheap, in foal! (She cost less than the stud fee for the stallion she's in foal to!:eek:) We had hell with his other mare last year (a maiden) who kept throwing a kick out for no good reason and getting the foal - he had a HUGE septic hock that had to be drained and flushed and the poor little chap was a pincushion for weeks!! Thankfully it doesn't seem to have done any long term damage and he had SO much handling he's incredibly well-mannered too!

Thanks JG - he was more than precious to me, having bred him as well and having him set for grading this spring. Still guts me to the core and I am just hoping and praying that all goes well with the mares in foal to him so he can be carried on in some way. PLUS I want to put another mare to El Thuder. He really stamps them as 90% look exactly like Tam! Is soo hard to tell them apart in a foaling barn!
 
Hi Janet

I have a mare with similar breeding Juparana Flight (see sporthorse data) out of a Furisto dam. She looks like a Hanoverian battlebus although she is 3/4 TB (by a TB sire) but can throw them light so don't be fooled by the substance of the mare, look for a stallion with a bit of substance AND quality with some looks.
