Well, thats how he felt today anyway.
Most of you know my coloured like to gallop at things like a nutter and before this op he wasn't too careful to say the least, I put that down to a little too much hedge hopping, unfortunately for us neither stone walls nor showjumps have much "brush" in them.
Took him up onto our roughland today to do a little bit of wall hopping on the way home, but I was only going to pop the little ones as I had teeny tiny snaffle and a martingale.
He cantered into them fractonally slower, and waited more than he usually does, but he showjumped them, there was no silly standing off, no getting in too deep and no mad leaps, just nice, ration jumps. So I went bigger, and the same, rushed into them still, but jumped them nicely, and I could stop, I could slow to a walk between fences. The canter WILL come, that I am determind, I will get it where I want it, but for now, jumping in a snaffle is a big acchievement, in the middle of an open space over his favorite walls is more like a miracle.
