Fastenings inside or outside?

Hi

Could some one be so very kind and tell me which way rein fastenings on the bridle should face? Someone told me yesterday that having them inside was now 'old fashioned'!

I'm confused, any help appreciated

If your reins have buckles on them, they should fasten to the outside.

If your reins have hook stud billets, they should fasten to the inside.

I think this is what your referring to?

It depends on the fastening. Billets (little hooks that slide through a slit in the rein) go on the inside and buckles go on the outside.
