Fat Lad has been know to be *ahem* very 'friendly' with Skinny Minnie, who is a similar size, so it has never really mattered.
However, if I were to put him in with the Shetland mares, would I be asking for trouble or would he not bother them with them being so little? If I bought him and didn't know how 'friendly' he could be I would just chuck them in together and keep an eye out for a while, but knowing him as I do I am a bit nervous.
This wouldn't happen until next spring anyway, Fat Lad will be wintering in one field with mini stallion who will be gelded soon, while the girls will be in another field. Next spring I would like to chuck them all in together, but obviously won't if there is anychance of Fat Lad leaping on one of the girls.
Fat Lad is a 13.2 Highland by the way.
