ok, my mare is getting fat, shes out 24/7 and in medium work competing twice a week, but still manages to get tubby. only problem is shes also bone idle. im having trouble finding her feed that will give her a bit of sparkle but not turn her into dawn french!

what would you do?
shes a 16.2 ID TB and i feed her only half a scoop of alfalfa and 1/4 scoop of cool mix, biotin and a feed balancer.

normally have the other problem.. getting nervy warmbloods to bulk out!

any ideas welcome

I would drop the feed right back & perhaps just have the balancer and some HiFi Good Doer? The cool mix is unneccesary if you are feeding a balancer IMO.

You may find that she will be a bit more sparky when she loses a bit of weight and perhaps you don't need to feed her at all?

I have a WB mare who is a bit of a fatty - she gets Hifi Good Doer and carrots and I try to bring her off the grass a bit too. I find this helps quite a bit.
