Fat pads on horse who's not fat - questioning my sanity....

So two days ago she had large flat hard areas on her rump. Today they have gone. That might explain why I hadn't spotted them before, if they weren't there. Or I'm going nuts. Can't decide which.
She still has smaller round bumps dispersed along her back, but they could be to do with insects, and some small hard sections in her crest. I will monitor those. The vet hasn't rung back yet but my panic is subsiding.
 
Daily photos so you can compare might be a good plan, I know particularly for weight loss/gain (of me or of a horse!) I find it hard to notice - I see them every day, and the changes can be gradual, so I like to take a conformation-style photo so I can see any differences.

It was the only think I could think to call them/ that they could be but now I'm thinking more allergy.... vet didn't ring but it doesn't feel urgent given it seems to be improving.
